The Poker Hall of Fame list for 2010 is almost finally out. According to Harrah’s officials, this is the final list. The voting rules were similar like last time. Director Seth Palansky quoted that choosing candidates for the list has been tough this year as several players have played excellently well. Like every year, the rules for voting were the same. People needed to enter their names, addresses, age, email and contact details, name of their chosen player, and any additional comments if necessary. The whole entry about the comments mostly has a limit of 250 words maximum.
The nominations had to be submitted within 31st August. The names of the top 10 nominated players were released on 1st September 2010. Then the list was sent to the Hall of Fame Committee for review. This review is necessary to check up details of every player. Last year, Tom Dwan was disqualified as he had not followed the rules and had not “stood the test of time”. That was one of the five requirements which every player had to stick to firmly. The media panel will then decided upon the winners on September 16th, 2010.
Every Hall of Fame member is allowed to write the name of one chosen candidate and that particular player will be automatically selected for contemplation in the next year’s list. There has been a slight change in the rules for the 2010 Poker Hall of Fame list. Unlike in 2009, this year if the 2 finalists got above 50% of the votes then they were chosen as the top finalists. Last year, the World Series of Poker bracelet was won by Mike Sexton. The requirement was 75% all this time. About 100 people turned up to be present at the induction dinner. The whole event was a complete success.
