The online pro Dan Smith won the $ 100k Challenge at the Aussie Millions in Melbourne. Tragic end for Gus Hansen.

Smith, known online as Dan King suggested that the final table, and A. Gus Hansen, Joe Hachem, Sorel Mizzi, Nam Le, Tony G., Sam Trickett and Mikhail Smirnov.

Smith collected the first prize for $ 1.01 million

$ 100k buy-in for a poker tournament, because at times sounds crazy at first, but Smith has for his own justification.

“It’s fun, the tournaments with big buy-ins to play, and I am one of those idiots who believe to be the best, so I felt obliged to play,” says Smith.

“I’ve been a good year, so I wanted to increase the risk a bit. This time it has worked. ”

The $ 100k Challenge was scheduled for two days. 22 players made up the relatively small but selected field of participants, in which were represented such as Tom Dwan, Daniel Negreanu and Phil Ivey.

The final table came quickly to the first failure. Sorel Mizzi, Nam Le and Sam Trickett passed in quick succession.
The Danish Bubble

After Mizzi was eliminated, the tournament had reached the bubble. As so often, then the rate decreased to almost zero, because no one wanted to lose even $ 100k now. The first payment was $ 242k.

“At this point, I played extremely tight,” said Smith. “I threw on the button, A-3 away, what else do I never wprde.”

Ultimately, it caught the former chip leader Gus Hansen, who became entangled in a pot with the current chip leader Smirnov and lost his stack

Tony G finished in fourth place, taking home the $ 242k. Hachem was in third place with $ 330k and the biggest gain recorded in his home country.
Heads-up

Smith v. Smirnov, that was the last duel of the tournament.

Smirnov was perhaps the least known players in the final. In Russia, however, he is a respected cash-game player.

For three hours, the finale surged back and forth until Smith was able to finally build one chip lead and then won the crucial coin flip with 2-2 against Q-6.

Smirnov finished second in the tournament so and received $ 616k.

In contrast, Smith, who works as a coach for Leggopoker, celebrating the biggest win of his tournament career.

And what makes a man, who is from New Jersey, first with the money? He goes to the Super Bowl, because the New York Giants come there against the New England Patriots.

The change in interpretation of the Department of Justice on the one of the laws prohibiting Internet gambling in the U.S. has triggered a race to be the first state to launch online poker.

A week ago, knew the result of a Justice Department opinion on the possibility of selling state lottery online. The question raised by lotteries consultation of the states of Illinois and New York, focused on the possible application of the law known as Wire Act if the information about gambling beyond the limits of the state border to payment processing servers.

The Wire Act of 1961 prohibits the transmission of bets cable (wireIn English) and is always understood as applying to any form of gambling online. The new interpretation of the DoJ is that this law only applies to sports betting and horse racing.

The vast majority of analysts see this resolution as door open for a management model that allows online poker statewide implementation and a subsequent collaboration between states to create liquidity interstate.

In these times of budgetary constraints, it is not surprising that Congress U.S. different states seek to exploit the situation to launch the online game as soon as possible. Many state lotteries are responsible for planning to sign up for Internet shopping right now, as we read in this article CalvinAyre.

The case of poker is different, because there is no prior basis to work, unlike in the case of lotteries. Thus, several state-level political representatives see a golden opportunity to be the first to legalize online poker. Not all companies may maintain an infrastructure to offices and servers operate in several dozen states.

The state of Nevada has adopted a regulation on online poker to begin issuing licenses to companies that request, but always with a view to function as a market regulator approved a future federal law. Of the seven companies that have already ordered your license, only one has done as an operator, South Point Casino.

Therefore it is still open the struggle to become the first state to offer online poker within their borders.

State Senator New JerseyRaymond Lesniak, seeks to introduce a bill on the calendar of sessions this month.

Lesniak himself had been the driver of online poker regulation ended up being vetoed by Gov. Christie. One of the arguments the veto was precisely the possibility that the law came into conflict with the Wire Act

Lesniak today seek the New Jersey legislative committee approved a vote to present a bill on January 9, last day of the current session. If passed the law, only the governor’s signature would fail Christie.

On the other hand, the approved budget for 2011 Washington D.C.The statewide rank federal capital, including permission for the state lottery offer online poker.

Until now there has been seized this opportunity by the reluctance of some members of City Council. However, Councilman Michael A. Brown says now that those voices can not be planted in the middle of the race “for being the first in the market.”

We always knew that online gambling, apart from sports betting is legal. It is no surprise. But other states can beat us by the hand and that would be a tragedy.

Already scheduled for January 26 hearing in which the Inspector General Charles Willoughby will present a report on plans for online gaming District of Columbia.

It may not have to wait much beyond this month to see the birth of the regulated market of the U.S. online poker.

More than eighteen months after the attack on the EPT Berlin now the case against the alleged mastermind was spoken.

For a long time it looked as if the silence consistent concept of the five perpetrators, according to their Überfall on the EPT Berlin 2010 been caught and were arrested.

Then there was the man who had driven the getaway car and as head of the rail is, surprisingly again his tongue and made a comprehensive statement. Although the statement was interpreted by the court as a mitigating factor, especially since the man testified against his accomplices, it was followed by the punitive application of the prosecutor.

“He has left the four guys do the dirty work,” summed up his accusers Sjors Kamstra indictment succinctly together. The defense had only suggested no punishment, but merely called for a lower sentence and bail until the actual incarceration. The court rejected this by pointing to existing escape from danger.

The other offenders were sentenced in 2010 to prison terms of up to three years and nine months. Since they were only 19-21 years old at the time of the offense, was with them still applied juvenile justice.

The accused was in the process its share of the spoils – € 22,000 – € 1500 return and paid an additional pain and suffering. However, most of the looted money is still untraceable.

Overall, the band € 242,000 entry fee the participants in the EPT Berlin had robbed 2010th Because of its amateurish appearance – and they fled without a face mask A. by the venue opposite, video surveillance shopping center – all members were caught after a short time.

It was the biggest WPT outside the U.S.. And the winner goes the Russian Andrei Paveytchuk one in the books. Besides the enormous trophy he pocketed the equivalent of € 470 000. Stanislav Kretz of Germany was third after a great performance.

At about 0.45 clock it was over. A two-hour heads-up duel between the Spaniard Adria Balaguer and the winner of the EPT San Remo, Pateychuk Andrey from Russia came to an end with the following hand:

Pateychuk raised to 600,000, Balaguer was advertised at all and his Russian opponent Istante the call. The young Spaniard was with pocket queens against A♥ 5♠ Paveytchuk clear of the front. But the use give anything if it is a heating, how to do Andrej Paveytchuk.

The flop came 9♠ 7♠ 4♠ and he who held no spade was Balaguer. A Paveytchuk needs the spade but do not, because the 3♥ gave him more outs. And indeed, the river was the 2♣, Gave the Russians a straight and the WPT title with it. With an intermediate level in the heads-up chip of 10:1 against him, and incredible luck on day 3 Paveytchuk seems now, as protected by the holy hand.

He began his incredible Heater in summer, when he 15th ($ 478,174) in the WSOP Main Event was. Only a few weeks later he won the EPT San Remo for $ 937,530 more. And now come again to 468 200 €.

Is presented in excellent form, the German poker scene. Tobias Meier Reinke finished the tournament as the € 3,500 euro eleventh and Stanislav Kretz even saw a long time, like the future winner. Gone as chip-dominator in recent days, he was also the first online Bustout of crack cocaine and EPT Snowfest runner up 2010 Russell Carson from Canada.

But then he left and the fortune he came back not really more. The third place and 160,000 € for the previously not have appeared in Kretz, not necessarily life changing, in a higher league but they catapult him forever. At today launched EPT Prague, we will probably see him again.

With the biggest field at a European WPT, it was a great success for bwin PokerThat was the first time occurred at a WPT main sponsor.

And the payouts are the final table:
First Place: Paveytchuk Andrey (Russia), 470.000 €
Second Place: Adria Balaguer (Spain), 225.000 €
Third Place: Stanislav Kretz (Germany), 160.000 €
4th Place: Benjamin Pollack (France), 105.000 €
5th Place: Sigurd Eskeland (Norway), 80,000 €
6th Place: Russell Carson (Canada), 63.000 €

The International Federation of Poker (IFP) has taken up the cause, poker to establish itself as a so-called mind-sport. It takes place in London for the first time a world championship. To minimize the luck factor, Duplicate Poker is played in the format. At the Nations Cup, which begins today, Germany is also at the start. And with the best, you have to offer in this country.

The poker world champion will be crowned in Las Vegas and of course, but after the WSOP Main Event. Pius Heinz, the reigning champion from Germany to the title but, curiously, now back in a few weeks for the second time.

Because today starts in London , the first World Poker Championship, which describes itself as such . Host the International Federation of Poker (IFP) is. The event begins today and ends on Sunday the 20th November with the crowning of the first official world poker champion. First, however, is the Nations Cup, the competition of national teams played . The German team also plays Pius Heinz .

Particularly enthusiastic about the existence and involvement of top-class events showed IPF President Anthony Holden:

“The Nations Cup is all represent what is on the intelligence and good-sport exciting. Some of the best players will be renewed in this Cup is the appeal of a dispute between different countries. It is otherwise in the sport of poker’s not like the case. ”

Zum Turnierformat of Duplicate Poker Sagt Holden:

“It’s also in our interest that the luck factor is minimized in our continuous-wide competition. Poker is played by millions worldwide and Duplicate Poker is probably the purest form of the game . The opponents are fighting against each other without having the chance to play a major role. I think this is the best way to play poker as a strategy to represent and Mind Sports .

In the two-day Nations’ Cup occurred in twelve nations. Including the U.S., UK, Germany, Japan, Australia, Ireland, Spain, Holland and Denmark. The teams consist of six players and two reserves. For Germany are:

Pius Heinz, Sandra Naujoks, Tim Reese , Hans Martin Vogl , Sebastian Ruthenberg, Moritz Kranich, Konstantin Bücherl Reinke Meier and Tobias .

Moreover, while the fight for the title of World Champion Team: Barry Greenstein, Antonio Esfandiari, Vanessa Selbst , Sam Trickett, Liv Boeree, Sam Holden, Andy Black, Padraig Parkinson, Eoghan O’Dea, Marcel Luske, David Benyamine, Fabrice Soulier, Tony G. and Gus Hansen .

Played in the Texas Hold’em variant is “duplicate poker”, in which the luck factor is virtually eliminated. At every table, the players get the same places on the same cards and the board is identical. Thus, all teams have the exact same conditions and only the skills and decide alone . Thus no information can be exchanged between the tables, the Nations Cup will be played the way in the cabins of the London ferris wheel .

The winning team receives a prize of the way, $ 250,000 . Is twice as high as the prize pool at the beginning of the individual competition on Saturday. At the event, “The Table” step 130 poker players selected players compete against each other to crown a world champion poker.
