Nosebleed on the Limits, the first two weeks of the year 2011 in the books. Really good things used to Scott UrnotINdanger2 Palmer and Di Urindanger Dang, both of which could make far more than a million dollars in profit. The biggest loser is Richard Kpederson Lyndaker, the first since this year is the biggest games on Full Tilt and active earlier than nutsinho caused a sensation at PokerStars.
The past 14 days were determined primarily from the live poker at the PCA in the Bahamas. Nosebleed on the other hand, limits the usual suspects were largely back sessions with Monster and monster pots.
However, above all, held the Scott UrnotIndanger2 Palmer and Tues Urindanger Dang not depend on one million U.S. dollars profit to bag. Among the greatest victims of Dang to a new Gus Hansen, and especially the unknown Roller Coaster cadillac1944, which, after his disaster in 2010 is already among the top two of the biggest losers.
Scott Palmer on the other hand unbuttoned his next Tom durrr Dwan (Which he declined in a session in PLO $ 650,000) from a Newcomer. Richard Lyndaker was previously under the nick nutsinho only PokerStars played and was part of the biggest winners ever. Since April 2009, he was able to collect nearly $ 2 million and proved especially in the $ 25 / $ 50 No Limit Hold’em incredible consistency.
Now the Americans are playing so well on FullTilt taking his new nickname Kpederson. And he got there first to set the mood right on commanding snout. Scott said he and the UrnotIndanger2 Palmer delivered some extremely brutal Heads Up Sessions. And got in just two days Kpederson $ 500,000. The two had played a total of 4,000 hands No Limit Hold’em with blinds $ 200 / $ 400 and over most of the matches away seemed Lyndaker not stand a chance to have.
Particularly interesting about the battle of the two high rollers by the way was the fact that Richard Lyndaker the sessions after the event has analyzed in detail in his blog. And as for so many players, it’s available for him in defeat only one logical explanation: His opponent had gone just hotter than ever before in his life. He concedes that Palmer is without question a darn good player he is against him but a small but fine “Edge” There.
A little luck also seems the German fixed limit player IHateJuice with its name change to have. After protests against his old, somewhat questionable Nick he had recently received a new nickname, namely Kagome Kagome risen. And strangely, it luauft no longer for him.
Was it after the first week of 2011 under the old Nick even with the front over $ 300k, he lost in Kagome Kagome in a week $ 630,000. Almost the entire sum lit Patrik Antonius in the bags, however, despite this gain did not appear in the top 10 biggest winners of the year. Also in the Overall record vs. Anthony. IHateJuice / Kagome Kagome is the German still with $ 400k in front.
Eugene Katchalov win the $ 100,000 Super High Roller against Daniel Negreanu, Victor Blom is Isildur, and the main event leads first to an old friend.
The 29-year-old immigrant from Ukraine who now lives in Brooklyn, New York, prevailed against 36 opponents and won $ 1.5 million. It is next to the victory at the WPT Five Diamond 2007 his greatest triumph.
To hell or Negreanu
At the final table were, and others also Humberto Brenes, the Ingenieur in fifth place with the first money rank, and Nick Shulman, who started as chip leader, after a burst against Negreanu Bluff but was eliminated in fourth. Katchalov with QQ Bryn Kenney then took off the table with 8-8.
The last, Daniel Negreanu put in Katchalovs way to the title, and he left a lasting impression: “He made life hell. He was fighting for every single chip and played the short stack well. ”
Negreanu lost after the WSOPE final last year, another tournament in a heads-up moves, but thanks a million dollars in prize money in the eternal money list again passed Phil Ivey and now stands at $ 14.1 million.
Katchalov is with the $ 1.5 million for the win now at $ 6.1 million in a final hand on the turn, Negreanu took a straight, but Katchalov found on the river, one out of quads. Regardless, somehow Negreanu, nor chips left over. In the last hand with pocket fours Katchalov then won against Negreanu’s pocket fives: a four on the turn.
Katchalov gave himself after the tournament accordingly modest: “I was lucky.”
Victor Blom is – yawn * * – Isildur
The worst kept secret in the poker scene is revealed. During a 100 hands show battle between Viktor Blom and Bertrand Grospellier the identity of Isildur was officially confirmed. It is Blom, not Grospellier.
The 20-year-old Swede tried, then, not to construct a sensation from the announcement: “I guess a lot of people knew long ago that I am, so it now makes any great difference for me.”
13 months after the sudden appearance of Isildur on Full Tilt, and one month after admission to Blom’s Team PokerStars has a new hero to the scene, and actually the opposite, if you look at his record in that time looking at Sun After his record profit in a short time he finally went down in total only.
Nevertheless, his style of play is fascinating and rightly feared. And there is probably no other player in the world that would Ivey, Dwan, Anthony and the Half Full Tilt team compete simultaneously on more than ten heads-up tables. This courage must first one.
Blom’s rhetoric is slowly approaching his game, “Ichglaube, I am the best NLHE Heads-up player in the world, but I’m looking forward to learning from the other team and pros to help them.”
The fact that Blom has to humor, his answer to the question shows how he became this extraordinary player, “I just lost a lot, and I am learning a lot.”
Main Event – Pieter de Korver front
An old acquaintance of EPT collected after Day 1A of the PCA main event more chips than any other of the 647 starters: Pieter de Korver. The sympathetic Dutchman turned its 30,000 Starting Chips an 245 000 monsters and great look now top of the table from left to competition.
Unforgettable is Korver de feat in EPT Grand Final 2009 with the remaining four players, and only a few big blinds to survive and win the tournament to even more. Phil Ivey and Joe Cada addition to 270 other players are also among those to which we can look forward to day 2.
The Poker Stars Caribbean Adventure in 2011 begins with a bang. The $ 100,000 Super High Roller tournament drew 38 players to the tables. Tobias Meier Reinke also a German mixed into the top elite. In the last 10 minutes, handed him two hands to be rising from the short stack to chip leader.
$ 100,000 Buy-in, which has given it within one of the major tournament series so far. But the Poker Stars Caribbean Adventure 2011 was just opened a Super High Roller tournament. 38 players had bought it and boarded the last to the Swede Victor Blom, probably tomorrow, officially as Isildur1 unmasked the tables. Long it took him there then, just as Cirque Soleil founder Guy Laliberte, online high roller Ashton TheASHMAN103 Griffin Sorcerer Antonio Esfandiari, however. They all had prior to completion of the first day down the sails.
Significantly better when the day came for the only Germans, namely Tobias Meier Reinke from. First ran together at the Hamburg not vie, so that he was short on the last level of the day pretty. But then the tide turned in two hands. Here the action:
Hand 1: Six minutes before the end of the day came first, the important doublers. James had opened for 15,000 fruit and Bryan Colin called. Reinke Meier increased from the big blind to 50,000. Fruit folded, but Colin had an idea and increased to a total of 85,000. Tom thought for a moment, then went for 204 000 All-in. The pot odds were probably too good, so Colin was with gritted teeth A
T
the call. The German spun Q
Q
order. The board was dealt out with 4-3-9-6-8 and so it was again 450 000 chips at Reinke Meier.
Hand 2: Madness! In the last hand of the day, Tom took the lead still in the chip count. Shawn Buchanan, he had delivered the entire day at the end of fierce battles and a lot of luck. The Canadians had opened for 15,000, Tobias of the cut-off increased to 35,000 and unpacked Buchanan, the 4-bet to 80,000. Reinke Meier then went to over 400,000 all-in and was immediately called. In the showdown was Tobias T
T
, of Canadians A
A
. On the river completed for the Lucky German a straight and Reinke Meier is so go with 896 000 chips as the leader in the second tournament.
Until victory or one of the five places paid, it is still a long way. There are always still 23 players in the tournament and will be prosecuted Reinke Tobias Meier, among others, No. 2 in the chip count Daniel Negreanu.

PCA – History:
The very first Poker Stars Caribbean Adventure in 2004 was still part of the World Poker Tour (WPT). Instead of the Atlantis resort on Paradise Iceland (Bahamas), the 221 participants played on a luxury liner that cruised between Florida, Jamaica, Mexico and the Cayman Islands. The prize pool was $ 1,657,500 at the end, and after seven days, won the Dane Gus Hansen, who at the final table along with other proposed Daniel Negreanu.
Since then, the PCA has grown after all, the biggest tournament series ever to the WSOP. Last year alone there were 50 events and the field of the main event with 1529 participants reached a new record.
This is the result of a study of two American psychologists who wanted to find out whether online poker players differ in character and personality of the average citizen – and if winning player are different knitted as losers.
For their Poker Personality Study Paul Fayngersh made (Binghamton University) and Mark Kizelshteyn (Washington University), a questionnaire to which they then published in two major poker forums (2 +2 and DeucesCracked). All candidates were therefore part of interest and not for financial reasons in the investigation.
The study
The questionnaire was divided into three sections. In the first, the so-called “Big Five” investigated, that the five basic elements that define a person’s personality, it would take too long, this -. Neuroticism, extraversion, agreeableness, openness, rigidity – to shed more light, but who interested in the psychological dimension of personality is, in the Commons about the Big Five.
In the second part, general questions were asked to gender, age, date of birth, etc.. Self-assessment questions were added such as “Are you an aggressive person?” Or “Are you an aggressive poker player?”. Were answered the questions by the participants on a scale of 1-5 self-rated.
The third and final part of the study dealt with the playing style of the candidate. The survey asked how long and how much the players were playing, which variants, live or online, with or without tracking software and whether the game professionally, semi-professional or just for fun pursued. 73 players took part in the study.
The results
Online players scored particularly low values in the areas of extraversion, agreeableness and rigidity. In terms comprehensible German, this means they are more introverted (which in itself is not bad), have only their own interests in mind, do not care about others and are generally suspicious and unfriendly and uncooperative. Moreover, it is difficult for them to formulate goals and to motivate themselves to perform tasks.
Shall look you look at the tone, as he often prevails in the German forums or in comments to some articles Poker news portals, these results seem not quite be dismissed out of hand.
6-max players scored in these categories have fewer points than full-ring player. So where is asked that extra margin of aggression, social skills suffer in increased measure. The same relationship exists between “professionals” and “semi-professionals” compared to “amateurs”.
This is especially interesting from a psychological point of view. From poker technical view, particularly the last two results of great relevance:
1. Aggressiveness is often confused with looseness. The higher and professional candidates played, the higher they estimated a their own aggressiveness. Although there was a correlation to determine the VP $ IP and PFR values, but not to actually determine the aggressiveness of the values AF and WTSD). Who characterized themselves as particularly aggressive, proved in the study as very loose, while candidates who rated the contrary, higher factors of aggression exhibited. Conclusion: Aggressiveness is overrated!
2. Success is mainly related to two factors: age and control. The general view that the young internet kids on the scene almost running in no time and earn huge profits can be confirmed, of course. This is true regardless of the experience gained. Apparently, young players are better able to take over, common strategies or the development of even ahead. Moreover, it is literally the old dog just harder to learn new tricks again.
Control of their emotions for the profit rate of the highest importance. Here, the older players advantages. Anyone can be influenced by negative feelings achieved significantly higher profit rates. Frustration, anger, addiction and ultimately self-destruction “Tilt” result in irrational, bad game, leading to losses. “Tilt Control” the good apart from the very good playersWhat could be proven from this study is the first empirical.
Twelve months have again played at the Nosebleed limits and the balance sheets speak for themselves. As a player of the year may well be regarded without doubt jungleman12 Daniel Cates. Tom durrrr Dwan had built a huge upswing in the first half of the year but then a little bit. But increased from August to December the Norwegian Andreas Skjervoy Torbergsen in the top 3 2010th Gus Hansen was a “Loser of the Year” on the final straight of Ilari Ziigmund Sahamies and the mysterious obtained cadillac1944. The greatest decline in 2010 has, however, another player noted.
Looking at the balance sheet Daniel jungleman12 Cates to, then there is no doubt that the newcomers are referred to as a man of the year on the Limits, Nosebleed.
Only in January, he was foolish to $ 20K in the fire. By this time his turn came only to the top. In 2010, he has thus made $ 5,000,000 profit. Even in the PLO, he scooped one million U.S. dollars to his bankroll.
The other big winner is without doubt the Norwegians Andreas Skjervoy Torbergsen. The Full Tilt pro was only between 26 September and by 8 October $ 2,200,000 profit. 85% of his hands he was playing PLO.
Tom Dwan however, began the year with a rocket-like ascent (on 26 April he was already at 7.1 million plus), but then broke in the second half a little. However revealed that he has become the all-rounder. 2.5 million he won in NLHE, PLO 1.1 million and another million in the seven games. Only in Fixed Limit Holdem he had a loss of $ 1.1 million reported.
The balance was really bitter for Gus Hansen. He was until February two million U.S. dollars in front and then lost, after he had already made $ 5,600,000 in 2009 Mies, again. By October he was with another 4 million in the fire before it in the last three months ahead of Ilari Ziigmund Sahamies and the mysterious Roller Coaster cadillac1944 was passed in the negative list.
The biggest downswing 2010, but the former Card Runner-Coach Brian Townsend reserved. Drove the early 2010 under his nickname sbrugby the first $ 1,500,000 loss of one, then changed his real name, and increased again by a million. He has lost $ 2,500,000 in 2010 and Gus Hansen, thereby surpassing by about $ 900,000 to the loser list.
The past 14 months may, for Townsend to be really be called “ugly”. First, he assessed his former buddies Cradrunner Cole South and Brian Hastings thousands of hands of the online mystery Isildur1 from.
Then he had to wage work (about 6 million dollars in profit) left almost exclusively to his colleagues and to make matters worse was still the only one punished for it (suspension of sponsor FullTilt). And now he has to digest even this disastrous balance sheet 2010th
For consolation since only the comparison with Cole South. He had the Isildur1Cake gotten a large piece and ended the year as well with a big minus. It will be interesting when caught the bane of Scandinavia and the third member, Brian Hastings. Among the top 10 winners, he is no longer times.
The biggest winners 2010:

22. June 2010 – Moritz Schmejkal scrapes past the WSOP Bracelet
Event lasted four days and 35 of the WSOP, the $ 10,000 Heads-Up World Championship. Long has the German Moritz Schmejkal to defeat in the final match fought and made fierce resistance. But in the end he had to settle for 2nd place and $ 386,636.
Since the first of three duels decision took too long, Day was a fourth attached. And the poker strategist with the nickname Trader and the American Ayaz Mahmood used the extra time extensively, but not for Schmejkal with the desired result. In the final hand of the German raised to 250k, which Ayaz called. The flop A

Then he cashed as the 42nd In the EPT San Remo and was at the WPT Borgata in Atlantic City for three days chip leader. After winning the Sunday Warm-up on PokerStars, he was then in November before the big throw. In the EPT in Barcelona, the 22-year-old from Bielefeld table the remaining 9 players as a superior chip leader at the final. In the end it was enough only for fifth place and 170,000 €. The victory secured the Swede Kent Ludmark.
16. August – “flower child” and “Ansgar2000 ‘win Sunday Million and Sunday Warm up in one day

But conceding the “1 Year 1 million” bloggers $ 160.781.86, which resulted from a deal in the last four players.

For him, the warm-up the only Sunday tournament in which he had not sold any shares, and the victory of Tim “flower child” Ulrich he had bought his part, 5% shares.
